PROJECT

We were instructed by Potters Resort to support them in relation to the proposed expansion of their existing holiday resort in Hopton-on-Sea. The scheme comprised 51 new, high-quality, standalone accommodation units, known as ‘Wave Suites with associated parking on the land that was formerly used as the pitch and putt golf course.

APPROACH

We supported the project team in developing a site layout which met the clients needs in terms of scale and design requirements. The provision of parking was deemed appropriate to this form of development. We subsequently prepared a Transport Statement as part of a suite of documents that was submitted to Great Yarmouth Borough Council to support the planning application.

Subsequently, we engaged with Norfolk County Council as the Highway Authority and provided supplementary information which minimised the off-site works required. This resulted in a positive consultation response and no objections to the scheme from the Highway Authority.

OUTCOME

The Transport Statement concluded that the development proposals would comply with transport planning policy and would not result in a severe impact on the highway network. Whilst the application is yet to be determined, as set out above, a positive consultation response was received from the Highway Authority.
