PROJECT

We were appointed by y Novus Renewable Services Limited to support a planning application for a 25MWp PV ground-based solar park on 40 hectares of land to the southwest of Newbold Pacey, in Warwickshire. The proposed development comprises the construction, operation, management and decommissioning of a National Grid connected solar farm with associated infrastructure.

APPROACH

To support the planning application, we produced a Construction Traffic Management Plan (CTMP). The CTMP set out information on the forecast construction vehicle trip generation, construction vehicle routing and provided a strategy to reduce the impact of construction traffic on the local highway network.

As part of the CTMP, we prepared access drawings, visibility splays and swept path analysis to demonstrate that safe access could be achieved. In addition, swept paths along the constriction traffic route were undertaken, this was important due to the rural nature of the local roads, along with weight restrictions and a conservation area which prohibited some routes from being utilised.

During the post-application discussions with the local highway authority, we were required to commission a Stage 1 Road Safety Audit and produce a Designers Responses Report on the proposed site access to demonstrate that access could be achieved safely.

OUTCOME

The planning application was approved in October 2022.
