PROJECT

We were instructed by Manorwood Homes to assess the transport planning and highway engineering implications of a 15 dwelling residential development in Kirtlington. The residential replaces an area of open fields and provides a total of 78 cycle parking spaces and 33 car parking spaces all of which are fitted with EV charging points.

The footways and cycle routes locally provide connections to the local villages and the services they provide. There is access to a bus service, providing connections to the surrounding towns and local retail opportunities, within walking distance of the site .

APPROACH

We prepared a Transport Statement in support of the planning application. The Transport Statement demonstrated that the proposals would not have a detrimental impact on the local highway network in terms of operational capacity and would provide car and cycle parking in accordance with the requirement of local planning policy.

During the post-application discussions with the local highway authority, we were asked to provide a traffic calming layout, undertake additional swept paths, make amendments to the proposed pedestrian route and commission a traffic survey to remove concerns raised by members of the public.

OUTCOME

The plnning application is yet to be determined by the Local Planning Authority.
