PROJECT
We were instructed to prepare a Transport Assessment in support of the Land North of Red Lodge development, comprising of 300 residential units, 8 hectares of employment land (B2/B8/E(g)(iii)) and a new local centre that supports retail and community space.
APPROACH
Our work began with an analysis into the current operation of the local highway network around Red Lodge through the analysis of a wide range of survey data, including video monitoring. This allowed us to determine the existing characteristics of the highway network, and what potential impact this development might bring once competed.
We progressed to prepare a Transport Assessment and Travel Plan to support the application. Our Transport Assessment demonstrated the proposals would not have a detrimental impact on the highway network and that the new development traffic could be maintained on the existing highway; whilst our Travel Plan aimed to reduce overall new vehicle trips in support of sustainable and active travel.
Red Lodge benefits from a wealth of established shared use footway/cycleways alongside amenities within a reasonable walking distance from the proposed site. All of these factors were beneficial to illustrating the suitability of the site in the context of the established highway network.
OUTCOME
The application has been submitted to the local Planning Authority, pending consideration
