PROJECT

We were instructed by The Arch Company to provide transport planning consultancy services in support of a planning application for proposed alterations to land and buildings beneath White Hart Lane station.

APPROACH

We prepared a Transport Statement to demonstrate the compliance with the relevant transport planning policies.

The site achieves a PTAL score of 4, indicating a good level of public transport accessibility, reflective of its inherent location adjacent to White Hart Lane Overground station and within walking distance from several TfL bus routes. It also benefits from good pedestrian links and is served by regional and local cycle routes. Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Haringey Sixth Form College and large residential areas are situated within walking catchments of the site.

The site is and would remain car-free, whilst Blue Badge holders would be able to use the existing on-street disabled bays opposite the White Hart Lane station’s building. Cycle parking facilities are provided adjacent to the station and the ones on White Hart Lane. Servicing would be carried out by LGVs via the existing loading bay fronting the Site on Love Lane.

We focused on the car-free nature, minor scale and good accessibility of the proposed scheme, which justified the anticipated number of trips that it would attract (predominantly pass-by trips, while reaching or leaving the station on foot). It was therefore demonstrated that it is not expected to cause any adverse impact on the existing transport network.

OUTCOME

A planning application was submitted, supported by our reports. Planning permission was granted, with no objections related to transport or highways.
