PROJECT

We are appointed by INRG to support a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP) for a 150MW solar farm and a 90MW battery storage facility on land near Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire. Once operational, the solar farm will provide the equivalent annual electrical needs of approximately 40,000 family homes. This relates to more than half of the homes in the North Lincolnshire area.

APPROACH

We provided technical support throughout the pre-application process leading up to the submission of a Development Consent Order (DCO) application. This has included the preparation of technical access drawings, construction vehicle routing plans, a Construction Traffic Management Plan (CTMP) a Transport Statement, a Transport and Access ES Chapter and a Statement of Common Ground.

In addition, we have fed into the design of the scheme, including advice on access tracks through the scheme, as well as advice on public rights of way within the site.

Throughout the process, we have liaised with the Local Highway Authority (North Lincolnshire Council) and Highways England. Two rounds of consultation have been undertaken to date. TPA has also responded to third party comments, in particular from local residents.

OUTCOME

The DCO is currently at the Examination Phase. We have an agreed Statement of Common Ground with both North Lincolnshire Council and Highways England which conclude that the measures set out in the application documents are appropriate to manage the effects of construction traffic on the Strategic Road Network.
