PROJECT

We were instructed by Taylor Wimpey Strategic Land to assist with the feasibility, promotion and subsequent planning application for a strategic residential led development located on land at Whaddon, Gloucestershire.

The proposals comprise a total of 2,700 dwellings, a six from of entry Secondary School, a four form of entry Primary School and local community hub.

APPROACH

We were initially instructed to undertake transport and access feasibility work to support the promotion of the site as part of a wider allocation in the Stroud Local Plan Review.

Subsequently, we prepared supporting documentation, including access drawings and preliminary analysis of off-site mitigation required at St Barnabas Roundabout. In addition we produced a Transport Strategy and Mobility Strategy, promoting sustainable travel opportunities for the site, including a modal interchange and sustainable infrastructure provision.

Following the promotion of the site it was included within the Draft Local Plan, with us providing support as part of the consultation process.

We are now supporting the development proposals as part of a hybrid Planning Application, which is intended to run alongside the Stroud District Local Plan Review process. As part of the application we are preparing a Transport Assessment, Travel Plan and ES Chapter. In addition, we will be undertaking strategic modelling and detailed design of proposed access and off-site highway works.

Throughout the process we have been in liaison with highway officers at both Gloucestershire County Council and Highways England in relation to the local and strategic transport network respectively.
