PROJECT

TPA were instructed by Welbeck Strategic Land, to support the site through initial pre-application discussions, masterplanning and the eventual planning application. The proposals consisted of a 62-unit mixed residential scheme, which included the provision of green space and a pumping station.

The site is located on the edge of the village, however despite this the site is located in an easily accessible location with a number of amenities and facilities located within close proximity. Furthermore the local bus services provide connections to local service centres and rail stations.

APPROACH

Working with the Parish Council, the site was included within the Storrington and Sullington Neighbourhood Plan, ensuring that the development proposals were in keeping with the local requirements.

We were required to demonstrate the sustainability of the site, which has good pedestrian linkages to existing local facilities and services within the village, as well access to public transport services. As part of the development proposals improvements to an adjacent Public Right of Way and to the existing pedestrian routes to and from the village centre formed part of the application.

Consideration was also required as to how existing on-street parking on local residential roads related to the facilities and service within the village centre, could be managed to minimise disruption to both existing and future residents.

OUTCOME

Planning permission was granted in May 2020.
