PROJECT

The scheme comprises the construction of a convenience store and car parking on land part of the Boars Head public house in St Helens. The convenience store will have a Gross Floor Area of 365 sq.m.

APPROACH

We produced a Transport Statement to support the development which included a parking analysis to support the increase in traffic for the convenience store. Trip generations were calculated using the TRICS database and these were analysed for pass-by and primary trips. The assessment calculated 30% primary trips for the proposed development which concluded that the development would not have a severe impact on the local highway network.

The latest version of TRICS includes new site surveys which generate lower levels of vehicular trips than earlier site surveys. This results in lower parking accumulation and supports lower car parking provision for convenience stores.

OUTCOME

Planning application yet to be determined.
