Bromley Council approved plans for a new two form primary academy on a brownfield site in the Shortlands area at planning committee this week. Transport Planning Associates’ London team have been working on behalf of the Harris Federation and the Education Funding Agency, as part of a multidisciplinary team comprising Lambert Smith Hampton (Planning), GSS Architecture, Farrans (Contractor), Weber Shandwick (Communications) and Mace (Project Management), to achieve planning consent for this much needed school in South London.
Highways and transport were considered key constraints, and we have been working in close consultation with the highway authority and the local residents’ association to resolve staff parking and pick-up/ drop-off arrangements in the surrounding residential streets in particular. The team delivered a Transport Assessment and Framework Travel Plan in support of the development to mitigate the impact from traffic movements and car parking demand in an area of existing parking stress from commuter parking associated with the nearby Shortlands station.

Transport Planning Associates is also supporting the Harris Federation in delivering a five form primary academy in Chafford Hundred, Essex, and a two form primary school in East Dulwich, South London.
