Health & Safety
Transport Planning Associates acknowledges our legal responsibilities under the Health & Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 for securing the health, safety and welfare of all our employees working on its behalf and all others affected by their activities. Additional duties under the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999 are undertaken in providing assessments of reasonably foreseeable risks and to implement control measures, so far as is reasonably practicable.
In recognition of our commitment to achieving excellence in health & safety, we have been awarded safecontractor and Safety Management Advisory Services (SMAS) worksafe consultant accreditations, satisfying the requirements set by many of the UK’s major organisations. safecontractor and SMAS are registered members with Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) who act as an umbrella organisation to facilitate mutual recognition between health & safety pre-qualification.
Accreditation with safecontractor and SMAS provides uniform standards together with inclusion on both SSIP portal and safecontractor/SMAS database, demonstrating confidence that our Health & Safety Management System will be subject to an annual independent audit approved by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE).
Our health & safety management system has been fully integrated into the governance structure of our Corporate Social Responsibility Policy, highlighting our continued responsibility towards ethical behaviour and economic development contribution. This allows us to improve the quality of life for our employees together with society, whilst enhancing our core values towards risk management, service promotion and human resources.
We all have a responsibility in developing an effective health & safety culture whilst encouraging a safer working environment. We consider our health & safety policy as a ‘living’ document in order to maintain significant development for continued improvements. An effective structure has been adopted throughout the organisation with leadership directly from the board including appointments of a health & safety director, coordinator and representatives for Employee Safety. Our health & safety committee and associated sub-committees encourage employee involvement further contributing towards developing health & safety awareness.
Transport Planning Associates provides professional consultancy services; its direct impact on the environment is essentially limited to office work and operation, printing and staff travel. Through our environmental policy we aim to reduce our direct impact on the environment.
The company’s Travel Plan strategy is built on locating our offices sustainably where there is good public transport, cycling and walking accessibility – and, through continual improvement, our Travel Plan has helped to reduce our commuting and business travel carbon footprint.
Transport Planning Associates is committed to the principle of equal opportunity in employment.
Accordingly our processes and procedures for recruitment, selection, training, development and promotion are designed to ensure that no job applicant or employee receives less favourable treatment on the grounds of race, colour, nationality ethnic or national origin, disability, religion, political beliefs, sex, sexual orientation or marital status. The objective of this policy is to ensure that individuals are selected, promoted and otherwise treated solely on the basis of their relevant aptitudes, skills and abilities.
